In 2015 we had the privilege of spending some time with Philippe and Marcel Guigal – It all began in the vineyards (ridiculously steep vineyards in the Cote Rotie) followed by an extensive and mesmerising tour of the winery (so slick but traditional at the same time). We finished with an epic tasting and thanks to the generosity of the Guigals we were lucky enough to taste most of their lovely wines including the famous La Mouline, La Turque and La Landonne.
There were many highlights and epic moments on this visit and an undoubtedly strong desire and appreciation for the gems from the Cote Rotie however the one that left me wanting more was Guigal’s Vignes de l’Hospice from Saint Joseph- literally a stone’s throw from Cote Rotie
This week we have the opportunity to present you with that wine. A perfectly aged example of one of the Northern Rhone finest expressions from this exemplary producer
Guigal’s Vignes de l’Hospice is of the finest sites, steeply terraced vineyard just south of Cote Rotie and west of Hermitage.
You will be tantalised with dark licorice and warm ganache, blackberry and fig flavours, long finish of cloves, dried mint, smoked meat and so much more…. LIMITED QUANTITIES
