After just having come back from Paris, and being a Melbourne foodie... my thought was 'if I can get a half decent wine in Port Macquarie I'll be right'... well, this outdid my expectations on every level! Amazing interpretation of delicate ingredients, letting the food deliver what it needs to; enhancement with the most amazing subtle combinations; wine to rival the best sommeliers I met in Paris; and personal service to boot!!!! Don't miss this one!!!! Worth a day trip to Port Macquarie.."

"You read the title, now read on... Firstly prepare your wallet - it's going to lose some of that excess weight. Then let that slide and prepare yourself to just enjoy the experience. The simple menu has a superb range, sufficient for a group without a baffling array of overwhelming choices. All our party spoke very highly about their meal; I can certainly recommend the Patagonian toothfish to follow the ceviche entree. Great wine choices for my friends but in my workman-like way I prefer a good beer. Choose the West Australian Pale Ale if you're on the same page as me. Would I go back? When I'm in the mood for a treat, most certainly. Highly recommended."

"I headed to The Stunned Mullet last week for diner and the food and service were absolutely outstanding ! I had the confit duck leg for main and the strawberry frozen yogurt for dessert. The duck was cooked to perfection and really matched the polenta side, sour cherry, hazelnut and pear sauce. The strawberry frozen yogurt with its granola and citrus foam was a perfect way to finish up the meal. The service was also spot on and we didn't have to wait long between the meals. The only little criticism I have is that the dessert menu was not extensive and mainly turned toward ice cream and frozen treats. But overall if you are up for a threat, this is a fantastic place to go."

“I am not surprised this restaurant has a "hat" - equivalent to a European Michelin star. The food, service and knowledge was top quality and was the best we experienced anywhere in our 5 week trip around Australia ( including top quality/ high end restaurants in Sydney/Melbourne). I started with lobster, the fish with an Arabic influence followed by a chocolate dessert. My husband had scallops, tooth fish and fruit dessert. Truly superb and worth the expense.”

“Wow, you have to try the Glacier 51 Toothfish...funny name but the most delicious fish I have ever had. Tastes like sweet lobster with delightful firm flesh. The presentation of all 3 courses were works of art, you had to stop and appreciate the attention to detail before enjoying the delicious and innovative food. Whilst the menu is not large the options were all tempting and whatever you end up deciding on you will not be disappointed. With great food you hope for excellent service and the staff delivered a high standard of service to match the award winning food. Wine buffs will be impressed with the extensive wine list. Definitely worthy of its recent chef hat award and one restaurant Port Macquarie should be proud of. Well done to the chef and staff on giving us a memorable dining experience.”

“Stunning food and location worthy of a special occasion” - 05/15
Visited the Stunned Mullet with family for the first time celebrating a milestone birthday. What a superb experience for such an occasion. The food was excellent, the presentation and artistic flair of the chef was outstanding. The wait staff were knew the menu and explained each dish exactly. We do not normally lunch at fine dining establishments but this was definitely an experience I would not have missed and hope to repeat. Meals are not cheap but this is a fine dining establishment and the quality and presentation of the food are worth the expense in my opinion. Would recommend this restaurant for very special occasions.

The Stunned Mullet is hands down Port Macquarie's best restaurant. Such a warm, welcoming place for dinner whether dining alone, with friends or even with our small children ...The staff always make us feel nothing is too much trouble and we always leave with a big smile and full belly... The best lime margharitas! And the best wasabi butter - rump steak!! A visit to Port is not complete without a visit to The Stunned Mullet.
“Back again…” - 05/15
I have to review for the second time... The Stunned Mullet is exceptional. The staff, the menu and the wine list is fantastic. Each time we come to Port Macquarie we have to have dinner here. Locally sourced produce, flavours that will make you want to come back time and time again and presentation of food that almost made me take a photo (It just wouldn't have done it justice). Yet again we went for all three courses. Portions perfect. And in all honesty we would have paid a lot more in one of the capital cities for the quality of the meals and wine and whiskey that we ordered.

We ate here for our anniversary and had a table in the window looking out to Town Beach which was very nice with the breeze coming in through the open windows. I had rabbit to start and tooth fish for main and both were excellent but the wait staff were what made it, great wine selection too.
